This is a torture tool used during the Spanish Inquisition known as the Cat’s Paw.
I came across it while touring a museum in Granada entirely dedicated to the Spanish Inquisition.
From the museum caption:
“This instrument was used to rip off flesh, from any part of the body, the face, the back, the breasts, the chest etc. Used with a prisoner shackled to a revolving post.
For the tormentor, the advantage over the whip was that the incision could be precisely controlled so that the lacerations were produced in the places and at the depths desired.”
If you swipe right you can see a drawing of the tool in use. And I can promise they aren’t just scratching his back!😂 But if you think this is bad I have pictures of instruments that make this look tame and will make your skin crawl.
Everyone seems to love these posts so I’ll keep sprinkling them in 💀.
